SAN SIMON ISLAND AND THE TREASURES OF RANDE

Description

  • An excursion in which we will approach the interior of the Vigo estuary, passing through the Rande strait. The place that in 1702 witnessed one of the most legendary naval battles in our coasts, and where the stories of famous treasures and sunk galleons were born. We will know more closely this battle during our visit to the Meirande Museum, where we will be able to appreciate replicas of some galleon's quarters, such as the hold, the captain's cabin, and the cannons.
  • Our visit to San Simón Island will begin by sea, approaching the archipelago to get closer to its extensive history, which, once on the island, we will know with the help of our tour guides. They will relate the stories of monks, the incursions of pirates like Francis Drake, and bring us back to when the island was used as a Maritime Lazaretto or as a Concentration Camp during the Spanish Civil War, among others. On top of that, we will have the privilege to walk among the idyllic gardens that make it an oasis full of history in an exceptional natural environment.
