About this heritage

Moaña is a town in Pontevedra´s province, which, together with Marín, Cangas and Bueu, form the Morrazo peninsula. This region is known for its coasts and its particular natural beauty that combines the coastal landscape with the typical mountains landscape.

Its main population centre has all the services available. Starting from Moaña´s beach, we find the sports facilities of a Xunqueira with its outdoor athletics track, a park and a playground, very close to the public schools of Seara and Reibón.

A few hundred metres from these facilities and the beach, we find the City Council park and the Town Hall itself, where the tourist office is located. In these surroundings we also find commercial establishments. Further on and arriving at the roundabout on As Barxas street, we find a statue dedicated to the local driver Dani Rivas, who died on the Laguna Seca circuit in Los Angeles.

Following the promenade, we find the Pazo de El Real (traditional manor house), which dates back to the second half of the 18th century and has a modified structure with respect to its initial layout. The Pazo completes its facilities with a circular dovecote, a large granary and a chapel. The remains of Rear Admiral Méndez Núñez rested in this chapel until 1881.

In front of this Pazo, we have the Moaña Mar Marina, here we can contemplate its four pontoons full of all kinds of boats, traditional, motor and sailing.

The town centre of Moaña offers visitors all the services and leisure options they may need. Moaña is a destination of sun, beach and nature, but also gastronomic and cultural. It is the starting point to get to know the whole Morrazo region, to visit Vigo, the city of Pontevedra, or to enjoy a wonderful holiday without leaving the town.

In Moaña, everything leads to the sea, its promenade is a flow of parks, kindergartens, beaches and ports, such as the A Xunqueira urban beach.

Moaña has a municipal swimming pool and sports pavilion for the enjoyment of its residents and visitors, as well as a Secondary Education Institute. Very close we can also find the Pazo do Rosal, a stately mansion dating from 1640 which, like all pazos in Galicia, is an example of the noble class power.

Moaña is a municipality that belongs to the group of town halls that make up the Morrazo peninsula, in harmony with Bueu, Cangas and Marín, and which offer its visitors endless opportunities to enjoy the most incredible landscapes, the most charming beaches or its gastronomy prepared with fresh fish and seafood from the estuary.

But if the natural wealth of the region in terms of coastal landscapes is at the highest level, its mountains, from which you can see spectacular landscapes are not far behind.

Moaña is a municipality located in Pontevedra´s province, on the Morrazo coast. This last one is formed by five councils, which are Bueu, Cangas, Marín, Moaña and Vilaboa.

The municipality covers 31.5 km² and is part of the Vigo Metropolitan Area. The history of Moaña is closely related to the sea, as it has been a fishing village for many years. It also has agricultural and livestock activities.

In Moaña´s centre the port stands out, which is the main supplier of its market and the different restaurants in the area. In addition, there you can also see the typical houses of a seafaring neighbourhood, low and colourful. The village has different monuments, but there is one that stands out for its meaning. It is a statue dedicated to the late pilot Dani Rivas, who lived in the village and died in an accident.
