About this port

Panxón is a small port located at the beginning of the Monteferro peninsula isthmus. Protected from the North by a breakwater, it can be an alternative anchorage but conditioned by its shallow draught, several buoys, and lines full with anchored boats in summer, and limited protection from wind and sea from South to West. While in spring and summer, recreational boats crowed the dock, during the other months, fishing is the significant activity. The Panxón Yacht Club uses clump weight anchors or sinkers with beacons as an offshore mooring system for its members and offers an inflatable boat to access the boats.

Route and approach instructions

Sailors should perform the entry following the same instructions as to entering in Baiona:

The entry point is between Buey Point and Monte Ferro, 1.3 miles north. It is entirely open to the west but partially protected by the shallows, which extend to 0.7 miles northwest of Silleiro Cape, and a group of islets extending 1.5 miles west of Monte Ferro.

To make the entrance to the Port of Panxón, we leave Pego de San Juan shallow to port towards America beach to discover this port and its village.

Be extremely cautious about the stones left 200 meters south of the breakwater. Once you see at the tip of the breakwater the Votive Temple of the Sea, a unique building that stands out among the buildings, the entry point is straightforward.
