The Provincial Museum of Lugo, founded by the Diputación in 1932, is one of the main cultural and heritage references in Galicia.

It was established with the aim of gathering and preserving assets of Lugo's heritage scattered in private and institutional collections.

The museum houses a valuable archaeological collection, highlighting the 3rd-century mosaics found on Armañá street and an extensive display of epigraphy, heraldry, and stone sculpture located in the cloister.

In the field of sacred art, notable pieces include a medieval image of the Savior, Gothic and Baroque imagery, and liturgical objects in silver.

It also features an important Prehistory and Archaeology section, covering from the Paleolithic to Romanization, along with collections of ceramics, glass, and numismatics.

In the artistic realm, the rooms dedicated to Galician art of the 19th and 20th centuries stand out.

The Sargadelos ceramics have a specific room with pieces from all stages of the Royal Factory.
