To learn more

The Cabodevila Viewpoint, also known as Penedo do Bico, is one of the most outstanding panoramic spots in the Ribeira Sacra.

Located in the parish of San Martiño de Castro, in the municipality of Paradela, it offers a privileged view of the Miño river, the Belesar reservoir, and the town of Portomarín.

This viewpoint is a place of great natural and historical interest. You can observe the reservoir waters covering ancient settlements, such as the village of Ferreiroá, whose ruins emerge when water levels drop. Additionally, the mouth of the Loio river into the Miño and the route of the French Way to Santiago de Compostela can be appreciated.

The traditional name of this place, Penedo do Bico, refers to a cup-shaped hollow in the rock, which according to legend, was used to pour the blood of sacrifices to the gods. This detail adds a cultural and symbolic component to the natural environment.
