Capela Do Santo Cristo

About this heritage

The Capilla del Santo Cristo is a small temple with a single nave and rectangular floor plan, built with perfectly aligned granite ashlar walls. The presbytery is narrower and lower than the rest of the chapel. A small building is attached to the south wall. The facade is sober and highlights the semicircular arch door with large voussoirs. Above the entrance is a single-light bell gable with a small bell, topped by a stone cross. On the north wall there is a Romanesque door decorated with a head and a series of well-preserved corbels at the top.

To learn more

The Capilla del Santo Cristo is a small and simple stone church. It has a single room and the altar is in a narrower and lower part. The main entrance is very simple, with a stone door in the shape of an arch. Above the door there is a bell and a stone cross. On one side there is another old door, decorated with a head and some very curious carved stones at the top. It is a quiet and special place to visit.

To know it better

The Capilla del Santo Cristo features a rectangular floor plan with a single nave, constructed in isodomic granite ashlar. The presbytery, smaller in size and height compared to the rest of the temple, is attached on the south wall to an auxiliary building. The main facade, of sober composition, is organized around a semicircular arch doorway with large voussoirs, topped by a single-light bell gable with a bell and stone cross. On the north wall stands out a Romanesque doorway decorated with a sculpted head and a notable series of corbels on the upper cornice, elements that demonstrate the persistence of Romanesque ornamental resources in Galician rural religious architecture.
