Since its origins, the Aquarium of San Sebastián has housed, in addition to the widely known aquariums, an oceanographic museum with valuable heritage elements that, through the different areas of the museum, help explain and contextualize the rich maritime and marine history of Euskadi and San Sebastián, its fishing and privateering past, the vessels used for the great feats of its navigators, …

In this space, we find areas that address topics as interesting as the evolution of maritime trade, shore shipyards, Basque whalers, privateering, fishing, … and also a zone that pays tribute to the Gipuzkoa Oceanography Society, which was one of the first entities dedicated to the study and dissemination of oceanographic content in Spain.
