Castrelo de Miño is a municipality belonging to the province of Ourense, located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula and in the heart of the Ribeiro region. Galicia's largest river has in Castrelo de Miño a nautical center equipped with all services. It is situated on the waters of the Castrelo de Miño reservoir, a benchmark for the practice of water sports not only in Galicia but also where Olympic teams from other countries such as Australia and Great Britain have trained. Interestingly, up to 10 of the medalists in water sports at the Rio 2016 games trained in these waters.

In the park, you can engage in sports activities with a tourist-recreational character as well as training for competition, including sailing, rowing, and canoeing. It also features a recreational area equipped with a swimming pool, basketball court, docks for swimming in the reservoir, and kayaks and pedal boats available for rent.

The club offers beginner and advanced courses throughout the year and hosts regional and national competitions, making it a perfect place to enjoy sports and nature.

To complete the offer, the nautical park has dining options including a restaurant and a café, as well as summer concerts, star gazing events, and on Sundays, a gastronomic fair at the park's restaurant.

As a curiosity, in 2016 the first stage of "La Vuelta" cycling race in Spain, which was a team time trial, finished at the nautical park. The stage was won by Team Sky led by Christopher Froome, with riders like Alberto Contador, Nairo Quintana, and Alejandro Valverde also participating.

The municipality of Castrelo de Miño is located in the heart of Ribeiro, on the left bank of the Miño river, in the province of Ourense. The Castrelo de Miño Nautical Club is located in the southeast of the O Ribeiro region, 15 minutes from Ourense and 45 minutes from the city of Vigo, and is the reference nautical center inland Galicia due to its extensive reservoir surface which, besides the use of the dam for hydroelectric power generation, offers ideal conditions for water sports. The club's large and complete facilities make it a benchmark in the nautical sector.

The Castrelo de Miño Nautical Club has been operating for 30 years and offers sports activities with a tourist-recreational and training-competition character, including sailing, rowing, and canoeing. Beginner and advanced courses are offered year-round and regional and national competitions are held, making it a perfect place to enjoy sports and nature.

Currently, it has 200 members who can enjoy the full range of services at reduced prices.

The club's water sports school has been operating since the club's foundation and in 1994 was sponsored by Infanta Doña Cristina, acquiring the name "Aula de Vela Infanta Cristina." Today, the school offers many courses in various nautical disciplines, especially in summer, and sailing and rowing schools operate throughout the year. The nautical park is located on the shore of the Castrelo de Miño Reservoir, whose dam was built in 1969, flooding many of the area's farmland and terraces. You can take a catamaran ride from the park to Troncoso. This area is abundant with wineries and vineyards where grapes are grown for the production of Ribeiro wine.

The Ribeiro region is known for its wines but also has a very special relationship with water, not only because Galicia's most important river crosses the region but also due to the presence of thermal waters along it, including the Laias Caldaria and Arnoia Caldaria spa hotels, as well as the Prexigueiro hot springs, among others.
