Cubo da Mosqueira

About this heritage

Tower of the wall that preserves original remains of its defensive structure.

To learn more

The Cubo da Mosqueira is one of the most emblematic towers of the Roman Wall of Lugo, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.

Of the original 85 towers, 71 are preserved, and the Cubo da Mosqueira stands out for being the only one that retains vestiges of its original upper structure.

This tower features large semicircular arched windows, suggesting the existence of at least two floors in its original design. These openings would have allowed the installation of defensive weaponry such as crossbows or scorpions.

It is key to understanding the military engineering of Lucus Augusti and adds educational value to the heritage tour.
