About this heritage

The Briz farm (A Granxa de Briz) is a small haven of peace located in the heart of Marín, a town in the Pontevedra province with just over 25,000 inhabitants. Known as the Park of the Senses, it offers children a place of leisure with an infinite number of children's games around a lagoon. The Marín Town Hall acquired the park in 1999, making it available to the residents.

The property has three buildings and is surrounded by a wall built at the same time as the first building, the wine cellar. It has an area of approximately two and a half hectares. In it, one can find, besides a small lagoon, an infinitude of fruit trees and autochthonous species.

Once in the town, to reach the Park of the Senses is very close to the port, approximately five hundred meters; thus, a car is not necessary.

Marín is a perfect tourist destination. Its coasts, bathed by the Pontevedra Estuary, offer visitors not only fine sandy beaches but also the flavor of fish and seafood from the estuaries. Like the other towns within the Morrazo Peninsula - Bueu, Cangas, and Moaña - Marín possesses a natural richness that provides an unbeatable setting to its visitors to enjoy an unforgettable holiday.

Summarizing some History, this place belonged to the Oseira Monks and was known as the Coast Farm. Later, in the 19th century, the property passed into private hands when Roberto Munaiz acquired it, building "Villa Paula." Then, one of her descendants married Marcelino Briz, making the farm their family residence and building a summerhouse. Soon after, the place became a meeting spot for celebrities, such as militaries, politicians, and so on.

The park is within the city, and a visit should be mandatory, especially if one is with children. As previously mentioned, Marín is a perfect tourist destination. It has well-known quality beaches as the Portocelo, Mogor, Aguete, O Santo, or Loire ones, among others. As far as ecotourism is concerned, it offers its visitors places like the Castiñeiras Lake, the natural and archaeological space of Sete Camiños, three BBT circuits, trekking routes, and the Cadro Multiadventure Ecopark, sixty games distributed in its six routes.

Marín also has a great archaeological heritage, petroglyphs, dolmens, and typical Galician fortresses (Castros), like the Castro de A Subidá or the petroglyph of Mogor.

Marín also has a museum, a port, and a Naval School, among many other attractions. A great gastronomic offer can complete this tourist destination in the Rias Baixas.

In 1999, the Marín County in the Pontevedra province acquired what is known as The Briz Farm, in the heart of the city. At first, it belonged to the Oseira monks, and was called "The Coast Farm." After the ecclesiastic disentailment, in the 19th century, Roberto Munaiz acquired it and built a house named "Villa Paula." Later in 1942, the Briz Saraiba family, who was a descendant, decided to build a summerhouse creating the Briz Farm. Numerous celebrities - politicians, executives, and military men - gathered in this farm, creating even more History.

Currently, the farm belongs to the Town Hall and is known as the Park of the Senses, where everyone can enjoy diverse activities around a pond. It has figures carved in trees, small waterfalls, games to exercise the senses, and even an open-air auditorium.
