The well-known and popular America beach is in Nigrán (Pontevedra). It borders the city council of Vigo and occupies a large part of the Baiona Bay. Its original name "Área Loura," mentions its golden sand, and its current toponym refers to the first urbanization built by the Indians, after returning from the Americas.

Its vast sands have witnessed the uninterrupted waving of the Blue Flag that distinguishes the highest quality beaches since 1990. It is a sheltered beach of fine sand with a length of nearly two kilometers, especially 1900 meters.

It has all the necessary services to enjoy a splendid day on the beach. The sandy beaches of América and Panxón produce a bay of 3.5 kilometers delimited by a dune system, protected by the Conservation Plan and protection of populations of flora and fauna, such as Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus). This action seeks to reduce as far as possible human accessibility to the system.

Its wide pedestrian promenade is flanked by restaurants and tapas bars (taperías), where you can experience the wide variety of Galician gastronomy or relax with a refreshment appreciating the incredible landscape it offers. It has the shape of a shell; it is in an area sheltered from the bravery of the ocean, and its conditions are frequently windy and with a moderate swell. América beach is a destination with all the services that users can imagine.

It is one of the most mediatic beaches in Galicia. From the 1700 km of coastline and approximately 700 sandbanks of this autonomous community, it is the turn of the dune ecosystem América-Panxón beach. Situated between two mountains Monteferro and Mount Lourido and split in two by Muiños river's mouth, it is an area of surpassing beauty.

The dunes are enormous accumulations of sand in coastal areas made by the wind and the sea resulting from thousands of years of erosion. They have the flora that settles on them as their great allies. The dunes are a component of the coastal ecosystem and a reliable habitat for different species of seabirds and invertebrates that need to be protected.

Nigrán, and therefore, the countless visitors to América beach have it all. With Vigo 12 km away, anyone can enjoy Galicia's most notable city, its services, and also its shopping centers, without losing sight of the local commerce or its nightlife possibilities, and without forgetting its harbor, where it is impossible to miss the gigantic cruises that systematically arrived on its shoreline.

América Beach (Playa América) is a sandy beach of around 1200 meters long, belonging to the town hall of Nigrán. Its original name was Área Loura beach, (Blonde Sand Beach), which referred to the golden sand. Later, the Indians returned from the Americas and called it Playa America. This area has a long pedestrian promenade, leisure area, and parks, and is extremely close to Panxón and San Pedro of A Ramallosa.

On the beach is the Muíños River's mouth, where a wooden footbridge was built to join Panxón beach, to walk, and to protect the dune ecosystem of the area. In front of América beach, we see Baiona and the Castle of Monterreal.

Nigrán is a town hall in the province of Pontevedra, specifically, in the Val Miñor region, in the most influential area of Vigo.
