Best preserved Roman gate of the Lugo wall, also known as Puerta del Carmen for being located opposite the chapel of the same name, appears in medieval documentation as Miné or Mineana, as it was the natural exit towards the Miño river, a name that evolved into the current Puerta Miñá.

It consists of a semicircular arch and barrel vault, and is protected by two solid granite ashlar towers, following Vitruvius' canons in this type of fortifications.

Located in a hollow, the masonry is made of ashlar slabs and is 3.65 meters wide. Crossing the gate, you will find stairs that allow you to climb the Wall.

The Camino Primitivo to Santiago leaves the city through this gate.
