The Roman Wall of Lugo was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000 for being the best-preserved example of military fortification from the late Roman Empire.

Its design follows the principles of the Roman engineer Vitruvius, being the only Roman wall that preserves its entire perimeter intact throughout the former Empire.

Built in the 3rd century, it surrounds the historic center of the ancient Lucus Augusti and maintains its original layout of more than 2 km, with 71 of its 85 towers still standing.

Its structure includes ten access gates (five original and five modern), a walkable battlement, and remains of a defensive moat.

It is a benchmark for cultural and historical tourism, integrating Roman engineering into current urban life and the Camino Primitivo.
