About this heritage
We are located in Pontevedra´s province, in Cangas and, therefore, in the heart of the Rías Baixas, of which the Aldán estuary forms part. Its configuration is limited by Udra (Bueu) and Punta Couso. The Orxas river flows into its waters. Its beautiful beaches are disputed by the parishes of O Hío, Aldán and Beluso, the latter of Bueu.
Of all its beaches, which are many, Área de Bon, Menduiña, Vilariño and Área Brava, have the Blue Flag distinction. Área Brava is a virgin beach but it has all the services. It is 800 metres long and 30 metres wide. Its sand is fine and white and its waters are calm.
Aldán estuary and its surroundings are ideal for diving from which enjoy the marine flora and fauna. Octopuses lodged in the cracks of the rocky bottoms, walls colonized by sponges, sea squirt and algae, or the anemones with their different and showy colours, create a colourful and relaxation world within reach of this sport´s fans.
The scallop is a bivalve mollusc related to clams and oysters. It is an exquisite delicacy that grows near the Galician coast, on sandy and gravel bottoms, and rarely settles on the rocks. This Galician mollusc is also one of the three symbols that identify the pilgrim who travels the Camino de Santiago, and according to the story, it was proof that they had been to Santiago and used it on their way back to drink.

The Aldán estuary has everything as a destination. Huge beaches, nature, urban areas where you can get lost and enjoy both day and night leisure, monuments and everything the visitor may need. We are in the Galician Rias Baixas so we also talk about the cradle of the Albariño wine and seafood ... A cocktail hard to beat.
Everyone knows about the great capacity of our estuaries to raise the best seafood. Aldán estuary and the municipalities of Bueu and Cangas offer visitors a multitude of restaurants where you can taste the authentic flavour of the estuary. Scallops, crabs, lobsters, cockles or razor clams will delight your senses.
A thousand ways to enjoy, such as the opportunity to participate in organized dives in the Atlantic Islands National Park or on the rest of the coast.
Dozens of beaches such as Menduiña beach, qualified with a Blue Flag and 300 metres long, is a cosy beach with crystal-clear waters. It can be accessed from the road and has bars and restaurants in its surroundings. Or the beach of Vilariño, which is slightly more than half a kilometre inland from the estuary, has in its calm waters the best option for children´s enjoyment. Or Área de Bon beach located in Bueu which, with a length of 250 metres, differs from the others in its stronger waves.

Located at the end of the Morrazo peninsula, Aldán is a small estuary that is part of the Rías Baixas and, more specifically, the municipality of Cangas. Its waters bathe three parishes: O Hío, Aldán and Beluso.
The beaches of this coast stand out, as they are of white sand and crystalline water. One of them is the virgin beach of Área Brava, which is located between Punta Corveira and Punta de Alada. This beach, of about 710 meters long in the shape of a shell and with a moderate swell, is the largest beach in the entire Aldán estuary and has it has a Blue Flag distinction, because it meets certain requirements based on the environment and its facilities.
In the sea beds of the of the Aldán estuary´s beaches we can find different species of fish and seafood, such as scallops. This mollusc, so important within the Galician gastronomy, is a bivalve and is related to clams and oysters.
Cangas is a municipality in the province of Pontevedra that belongs to the Morrazo region. It is made up of five parishes: Aldán, Cangas, Coiro, Darbo and Hío.
