ONS ISLANDS. PHOENICIAN CASSITERIDS

Description

• Making the Islands of Ons itinerary will make us enjoy sailing the landscape and, thanks to the augmented reality application, we will know the places where the Phoenicians were doing their trade and the tin producing centres (Casitérides).
• Ons Islands are part of the only National Park in Galicia that is called the Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of the Atlantic Islands. In addition to these, the Cíes, Sálvora and Cortegada Islands are also part of the National Park, as well as a large number of small islands, and a large part of the underwater world that surrounds them. The Ons archipelago consists mainly of two islands, known as Ons and Onceta, the latter also called Ounce.
• Around 3,000 years ago, a group of Phoenicians left from the current Lebanese coast and sailed to the Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula, to end up trading with the Celtic peoples in the lands of present-day Galicia. One of the many evidences of the Phoenicians trade with the Celtic world will be visible from the sea in the site of A Lanzada.
