About this port

The port of Hondarribia, 9 miles from Donostia (San Sebastián) and 4 miles from San Juan de Luz, is located on the eastern side of Cabo Higuer, on the left bank of the Bidasoa River, 400 meters from its mouth. It has very good shelter conditions in any weather situation.

Route and approach instructions

Approach: The best reference is the Cabo Higuer lighthouse, located to the west of the bay. Coming from the east on the French shore, the breakwater reefs are visible at low tide but unmarked. The waters between Punta Santa Ana (Fr) and Cabo Higuer (Es), the Bidasoa River, and the Txingudi bay are international, and authority is shared between France and Spain. At the entrance of the Bidasoa River we find: On the Spanish shore, the Bidasoa Channeling Breakwater. End: Fl G(3) V 9s 5M On the French shore: Bidasoa Channeling Breakwater East End: Fl R 10s 5M The entrance to the port is 400 meters from these lights to the east, on these points we have the following lights: Hondarribia Marina North Breakwater: Fl G (4) V 11s Hondarribia Marina South Breakwater End: Fl R (4) R 11s Inside, a yellow light at the end of the waiting dock corresponds to pontoon G

The port has a total of 672 berths, of which 12 are reserved for transient vessels. Maximum length: 18 m; Draft of 2/3 m.

The beach is located at the eastern end of the Gipuzkoa coastline, specifically in the beautiful Txingudi bay, next to the mouth of the Bidasoa River, very close to the urban center of Hondarribia. There are two parking lots at the beach. Its location allows enjoying the wide tourist and service offerings of the beautiful walled city, a treasure of history and maritime tradition.
