Cangas has a great tradition as a summer destination, not in vain it has more than 39 sand-beaches of a renowned quality. Most of them are of fine sand and they are also bearing a blue flag because of its water, services and management quality.
Santa Marta beach
Located in Limens cove , in Vigo´s estuary and in a semi-urbanized environment, it constitutes the final point of the Areamilla – Liméns coastal path, there are two existing camps in the area. With a 190 meters extension, it has numerous services: access for people with disabilities and wheeled vehicles, parking, lifeguards, drinking water, telephone, trees, benches, showers, beacons, kiosks, restaurants, etc.
Liméns beach
With 310 meters long, this beach is located in the Liméns cove, just in front of Samil´s beach. It includes a dunes complex and pine-forests. In some times of the year a small lagoon is formed, which brings together hundreds of birds.
It is the principal beach of the Liméns cove. It has the principal services: access for people with disabilities and wheeled vehicles, parking, lifeguards, drinking water, telephone, showers, water-sports, campings, restaurants and beacons.
Salgueirón beach
O Salgueirón is a small, calm beach located in Punta Balear, in the old Massó canning surroundings. It is a fine white sand beach, and because of its little depth is an ideal beach for children. When the tide rises it covers almost all the sandy-area.
Cangas City Council, in Pontevedra province, is a more than recommendable destination in which throughout the visit you will be able to see the beauty of the natural and maritime environment, represented both by its coast greatness and by its cultural and monumental heritage.
Cangas has two tourist offices in which you can ask for information, the first one located in Avda. Eugenio Sequeiros, 9, and the second one located in the Maritime station, both in the surroundings of the marina and the Alameda Nova gardens.
This town offers countless possibilities for activities, hiking routes, cultural spaces, parties and festivals, a lot to do and to enjoy.
To the 39 sandy areas and the other leisure options it is added the possibility to practise underwater tourism and enjoy the great underwater life propitiated by the estuary and the Atlantic Ocean.
From Cangas you can participate in organized dives in the Atlantic Island national park and in the rest of the coast. Autonomous diving, freediving or snorkel are some of the ones that allow to interact with submarine fauna and flora due to its simplicity and low ecological impact.
Octopus lodged in the crack of the rocky bottoms, walls colonized by sponges, sea squirt and seaweed, or the sea anemones with their different and striking colours.
With spectacular views and a lighthouse dated from 1853, Cabo Home is located in the most occidental part of O Morrazo. This lighthouse has a 17 meters tower located at 143 meters at the sea level. The Morrazo peninsula stands out for its crystalline water beaches and its fine white sand. One of them is the Santa Marta beach, which is 190 meters long and 20 meters wide. It is located very near to Liméns beach, another wonderful natural enclave bearing a blue flag, so that everyone who gets close can enjoy its landscape and its nature.
Cangas is a municipality located in the Pontevedra province, which belongs to the Morrazo region. It is divided into five parishes: Aldán, Cangas, Coiro, Darbo e Hío.
