The Baiona Fish Market is located at the entrance of the fishing port, corresponding to the area occupied by the current waterfront promenade. It is the facility dedicated to the auction of shellfish and fish. It is mandatory that the first sale of all fishing and shellfish products takes place here, under the responsibility of the holders of the authorization or concession of the fish markets such as the fishermen's guilds, cooperatives, vendors, or even the Port Authority itself in some cases. It is at this first sale that the product's starting price is set and it is labeled for the first time. The label must specify the capture area, contact details, common and scientific name of the species, weight, production and presentation method indicating whether the product is wild or farmed, vessel data and fishing gear, capture and dispatch date, Fish Market brand, and traceability code. This brand may accompany the product throughout the entire marketing process as long as the other operators in the chain are also certified users.

The labeling informs about the product's traceability and helps in choosing fish and/or shellfish, ensuring that the purchase is of a fresh, local, and quality product.

In addition to the auction area, it has storage for fishermen's gear, several refrigerated chambers for fish preservation, and offers bait sales and ice sales and production services. It is divided by the fish market and a long breakwater. Fishing boats are distributed on both sides of the dock, one of which has floating mooring pontoons.

Its territorial scope covers from Playa de Abra (Patos) to the Orelludas Islands, including the Estelas and Farallóns Islands.

The fishery products found at the market come from the abundance of the sea such as sea urchin (Paracentrotus lividus), goose barnacle (Pollicipes pollicipes), sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax), or mussels (Mytilidae sp.), sourced from the rafts located next to the Monteferro peninsula. Nearby the port is also the Baiona Marina, situated in a privileged location as it lies in the historic center of the Royal Town of Baiona, making its main charms its geographic position and surrounding environment. It also offers excellent conditions for recreational sailing and is a mandatory stopover for pleasure boats en route to Portugal, the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands, and the Caribbean, which is why it has 370 berths for boats up to 40 meters in length, equipped with all the services a sailor might need. The mild climate and the variety and quality of its offerings make it one of the best and most modern marinas on the Atlantic coast of the peninsula.
