Cabrera Castle is a fortification located in the south of Mallorca, Illes Balears. It is currently a solid hexagonal structure, slightly elongated, situated on the eastern tip of the entrance to its natural harbor, with a height of 72 meters above sea level.

Cabrera Castle is one of the main attractions seen upon our arrival to the island. This fortification dates back to the late 14th century. From the top, on clear days, you can see the entire Tramuntana mountain range from Sa Dragonera to Tomir and the Artà mountains of the neighboring island, Mallorca.

In the 19th century, after the War of Independence, French prisoners were transferred to Cabrera, which became a concentration camp until the peace treaty was signed in 1814.

In 1890, the island became the property of the Feliu family, who introduced vine cultivation and promoted the repopulation of the island.

In 1916, it was expropriated by the Ministry of Defense for strategic reasons, and a small permanent garrison of thirty men was established. In the 1940s, it was converted into a military base and maneuver area for the Army.

Finally, in 1988, the Balearic Parliament initiated the process to declare the Cabrera Archipelago as a Maritime-Terrestrial National Park, which culminated in March 1991.
