This ancient monastery, mentioned in the 13th century as a donation from Doña Urraca Fernández, could have an early medieval origin.

Its greatest uniqueness lies in the architectural adaptation to the terrain, with a structural crypt that supports the temple, similar to solutions used in works such as the Pórtico de la Gloria.

The building features a nave with four sections, a barrel vault with ribs, a semicircular apse, and two traceried oculi. On the exterior, its portal stands out with blind arches, geometric and vegetal motifs, and a sculpted archivolt with seven symbolic figures.

The corbels depict the struggle between good and evil: an angel with a scroll and a demon. It also preserves an interesting image of the Virgin with Child and a sculptural group of the Epiphany, both rediscovered during recent restorations. Its Romanesque baptismal font, decorated with geometric motifs, reinforces the heritage value of this church fully integrated into the landscape of the Ribeira Sacra.
