The Hermitage of Santa María de Pena Redonda, located on Monte da Trapa (514 m) in Paradela, is a valuable relic of the religious and cultural heritage of the Ribeira Sacra.

Built on an ancient castro, the hermitage dates back at least to 1708, as indicated by an inscription on its triumphal arch, and features several inscriptions reflecting different phases of restoration from the 17th to the 20th century.

Inside, it preserves an altarpiece linked to the monastery of San Facundo de Ribas de Miño, showing the religious and historical connection of the area.

The hermitage is surrounded by popular legends, with the Virgin of Pena Redonda being the protagonist of traditions such as the annual pilgrimage on September 8th, when her protection is requested for the harvests.

The site offers an exceptional panoramic view of the Miño river valley and other nearby hermitages and municipalities.

Additionally, Monte da Trapa houses archaeological remains such as Roman mines and a cave with stalactites, enriching the historical and natural value of the surroundings.
