Miño is a coastal municipality located in the Betanzos estuary, in the so-called Mariñas Coruñesas. The Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo, declared a reserve on May 28, 2013, cover 17 municipalities in the counties of A Coruña, Betanzos, and Terra de Melide. Its area is 113970 hectares with a population of approximately 195000 people. It is also a Site of Community Interest (SCI) and is part of the Natura 2000 Network.

It borders Pontedeume municipality to the north, the Vilarmaior municipality to the east, and Paderne and Irixoa municipalities to the south. The town is 27 kilometers east of A Coruña and has an altitude of 10 meters above sea level.

Three rivers run through this town, Lambre, Baxoi, and Xarío. The Lambre River flows along its course in a route full of charm until its mouth at the beautiful Ponte do Porco on the border with Paderne municipality forming the Alameda Beach. Located on the English Way is the Baxoi River, which flows along its course to meet a gothic fountain and a picnic area until its end at the Grande de Miño Beach forming the marsh. Finally, the Xarío River flows across the parishes of Villanueva and Perbes ending at one side of Grande Beach.

The harbor of Miño is a combined one with a fishing port and marina, and has two docks for sports, but only one can work as a fishing dock.

Miño is a municipality of prominent tourist magnetism because of the existence of four beaches: Grande Beach that has the Blue Flag since 1984, Ribera Beach, better known as the small, the Alameda Beach with large variations between high and low tides, and the Perbes Beach, with the addition Lago Beach. Besides Grande Beach, currently, the beaches of Perbes and La Ribera hold the Blue Flag, all in recognition of the quality of its waters, facilities, and accesses, among others.

A small dike protects the little port of Miño. This dike is dry at low tide and is adjacent to the Miño beach, which connects to the Ribeira beach through a promenade. This beach is in an urban environment, sheltered from the wind so its waters are calm.

A visit to the port is recommended for those people with mobility problems.

Located in the port is the yacht club of Miño, where one can practice sports, such as windsurfing, sailing, and canoeing. Throughout the months of July and August, they organize in collaboration with the Miño Council initiation courses for these types of nautical sports.

Miño has a fishermen's guild made up of inshore or coastal anglers and shellfish gatherers (Artisanal fisherwomen), which carry out their work with true vocation. Among other seafood, the clam is one of the most valued in this area. In 2016, Miño municipality had 18 shellfish gatherers.

Miño is a coastal municipality located in the High Estuaries (Rías Altas) of Galicia, more specifically, in the Betanzos estuary, in A Coruña Province. The town of Miño borders Pontedeume to the north, Vilarmaior to the east, and the municipalities of Paderne and Irixoa to the south.

This municipality attracts plenty of tourism for its five main beaches: Grande, La Ribera, La Alameda, Perbes, and Lago. Additionally, in the municipality, tourists can enjoy the crossing of three rivers: the Lambre River, which has its mouth in Ponte do Porco, the Baxoi River, which flows to its mouth at Grande Beach, and the third, the Xarío River, which passes through the parishes of San Xoán de Vilanova and Perbes, flowing into the Grande de Miño Beach.

Like any coastal municipality, it has a port. Its fishing port, located at the mouth of the Betanzos estuary, is small and has four rows of jetties for mooring. However, storms and eddies caused by the current have forced this port to close on numerous occasions because of damage in the area.

The Miño municipality has a fishermen's guild (angler’s guild), a group of people aiming to defend and represent the interests of its members, who are mostly anglers of diverse modalities.
