The products in this market are local, fresh seafood and vegetables from the region of O Salnés, meats, cheeses and deep-frozen products.

It has a total of 25 of fish and seafood stands and, 18 fruit and vegetable stands, 1 of frozen food and 5 butcher shops. The great commercial offer is carried out in this market, which is the town’s main supplier of fresh products.

This is when the seafood season opens. The celebration not only serves to promote the product and its culinary versatility, but to make the supplier’s role known to the public, where this fresh product can be found on a daily basis.

The O Corgo Square has green areas dedicated to children's playgrounds and areas to rest and take a walk . There are sculptures everywhere related to the sea and its world manifest the seafaring tradition of this town.

To learn more

The closed and normally covered installations where perishable products, cheeses, wines, liqueurs and even handcrafted products are sold, normally located in populated nucleuses, are known as "plazas de abastos".

The municipal market has a great attraction among its users because it supplies the population of O Grove with fresh local products, especially fish products since the market is annexed to the same building. Furthermore, the market itself has a fish market owned by the Fishermen's Guild "San Martiño".

In addition, on Thursday mornings you can attend the weekly market where, apart from selling perishable goods, they sell textiles, shoes and other goods. It is a very busy day as many people living in the vicinity come and buy their necessary goods.

In October the "Festa do Marisco" is celebrated in O Grove. This gastronomic festival has been held since 1963 and offers the consumer a tasting of seafood at reasonable prices. There are several tents with tasting areas and presentation of the product both alive in fish tanks or in refrigerators. It is a gastronomic-cultural event that highlights the basic pillars of the economy of this coastal town, which is tourism and fishing.

In addition to savouring the seafood there are also concerts and events are held. Other tents exhibit local handcrafted products, such as necklaces, shoes, bracelets or earrings made from shells.
