Na Guardis

Na Guardis is an islet rising from the waters that bathe the beaches of Dolç and Carbó, very close to the port of Colònia de Sant Jordi (Ses Salines), with a perfect panoramic view ahead on clear days of the main islands of the Cabrera archipelago.

This small piece of land surrounded by sea and posidonia is the site of an important archaeological site. A site that tells much of the history of Mallorca, specifically its deepest and most ancestral roots.

Historians agree that the islet of Na Guardis holds important information from the Phoenician era and the Roman domination of Mallorca. The area contains abundant Talayotic references, with the nearby sites of Na Moltona and Illot dels Frares.

One of the researchers who contributed the most value to this site, known since time immemorial, was the late Dr. Víctor Guerrero Ayuso.

A retired professor from the Prehistory area of the Department of Historical Sciences and Art Theory at the University of the Balearic Islands, Guerrero Ayuso participated in several excavation campaigns at this point on the coast of Mallorca, and through his work it was discovered that Na Guardis was used as a commercial factory by the Punics of Ibiza. Its location was ideal, very close to the salt flats of Sa Vall, considered the second oldest in the world and therefore a point of high economic and commercial interest.
