Pazo de Punxín

About this heritage

The Pazo de Punxín, also known as Pazo da Forxa, is a Baroque construction with a rectangular floor plan, organized in an L shape and highlighted by a tower located at the confluence of its two wings. Next to the main building is a small annex: a glazed gallery that connects to a smaller quadrangular building, giving the complex greater width towards the street, opposite a small garden. This pazo is a clear example of Galician manor architecture, combining defensive and residential elements in a rural setting.

To learn more

The Pazo de Punxín is a very large and old house, shaped like an L with a tower at the corner where its two parts meet. Next to it is a gallery with many windows that connects the pazo with a smaller house. In front, there is a beautiful garden. It is a special place that tells us how important families in Galicia lived many years ago.

To know it better

The Pazo de Punxín or da Forxa constitutes a significant example of Galician Baroque civil architecture. The complex features a rectangular floor plan and develops in an L shape, highlighting the tower located at the intersection of the two wings, a characteristic element of Galician pazos from the modern era. Annexed to the main body is a glazed gallery that connects to a smaller quadrangular building, generating a longer façade towards the public road and articulating the space in front of a small garden. The layout and architectural elements reflect the functional and representative evolution of the Galician rural nobility in the 17th and 18th centuries.
