Port entrance
Route and approach instructions
A large sand and mud bank forms the strip of the Lérez that is almost dry during spring low tides and only during typical high tides allows access to Pontevedra boats whose maximum draught is three meters. With a distance of a mile, it opens between Campelo and Placeres Points. It has only one passage from its entry point to Pontevedra. Two long piers marked with beacon towers make its channelization. Three of these towers are luminous in each. Their location is as follows: of those in the south, one is on the entrance, another in the seventh tower called Three Sisters (Tres Hermanas), and the third in the tenth tower, indicating Mollabao entry point. Of those in the north, the first is on the entrance, another on the fourth tower, marking the passage to the Lourido and Saiñas Coves, and the last in front of the Three Sisters tower. The tidal currents are not particularly strong.
