About this port

Sanxenxo is a top-tier tourist destination in Galicia. The quality of its seafood and fish is unbeatable, and in any of the port’s restaurants and taverns, you can enjoy excellent caldeiradas and seafood platters. In its surroundings, we can enjoy beautiful beaches such as Silgar, Baltar, Caneliñas, Montalvo, Foxos, or A Lanzada. The civil and religious architectural ensembles of Adina, Nantes, Padriñán, Bordóns, and Gondar are of interest. This municipality abounds with Paleolithic archaeological remains, such as the Acheulean biface of Randulfe and a series of mounds stretching from Punta de Montalvo to the Noalla Lighthouse. The Sanxenxo port is located in the same cove as the Portonovo port. The port has 421 berths for boats ranging from 6 to 44 meters in length. The minimum draft of the facility is 2.50 meters, and the maximum is 10 meters.

Port entrance

Route and approach instructions

Northwest passage through the A Faxilda Channel. The A Faxilda Channel lies between the Faxilda shoal and the Picamillo shoal. The Picamillo beacon and the Faxilda buoy by day, and their lights at night, will facilitate navigation through this passage. To take it safely, you should maintain the alignment of Punta Cabicastro and Monte Domaio at 124 degrees. You can navigate very close to Picamillo, leaving the beacon to the west. After passing Punta Cabicastro, we will navigate inland into the estuary until observing Punta Vicaño, which will indicate the entrance to Portonovo port, preceded by a small cove, Caneliñas, and a 400-meter-long cliff. Following this port, we will find ourselves in the same cove with the Juan Carlos I port.
