About this port

The vineyards surrounding the Miño River provide great visual depth to the landscape, allowing views of both banks. The terraces and grape transport routes blend with the old pier, which once facilitated communication via typical local boats. Some of these vessels have been recovered and preserved; they were flat, with long oars, designed for transporting animals, goods, people, etc. The nearby village preserves a significant part of the traditional architecture, with buildings adapted to protect against the prevailing winds of the area.

Environment
From this pier, it is possible to navigate the Miño River and discover the unique characteristics of the Ribeira Sacra. Upstream, depending on the height of the boat, you can reach the Belesar reservoir, where several ports, vineyards, churches, and a landscape reflecting human effort to adapt cultivation to the steep terrain are found. Sailing downstream, the terraces become more evident and the mountains seem to rise even higher, dotted with small villages. Along the route, you can admire Romanesque churches and hermitages that are part of the area's rich cultural heritage. Chantada, with its charm and strategic location, offers excellent connections to destinations such as Portomarín and Os Peares, where the Miño and Sil rivers converge, forming an environment of great natural beauty and historical value.
