San Roque has become a center of historical and tourist interest with the inauguration of a specialized route that tours the bunkers of the Sierra Carbonera, proposed by the Tourism Delegation of the City Council and led by councilor Alfonso Valdivia. The initiative, which has already attracted about twenty people, offers an unforgettable experience.

The Campo de Gibraltar is the place in Spain with the highest concentration of bunkers and fortifications from World War II. San Roque is the municipality that houses the most installations of this type, especially on the southwest slope of the Sierra Carbonera. It has more than 180 of the approximately 800 elements of the entire fortification line of the southern vertex of the province of Cádiz.

The territory of San Roque, with a high concentration of bunkers, especially in Sierra Carbonera, where there are approximately one hundred pillboxes, positions itself as a key destination for those interested in this segment of history. Additionally, the Archaeological Site of Carteia houses the only museumized bunker in Andalusia, adding an extra attraction to the area and providing a unique window into the region's wartime past.
