The Levante Salt Flats, also known as Salinas d'Es Trenc, are located in the southeast of Mallorca, in the Salobrar de Campos area, very close to the famous Es Trenc beach. They are one of the most unique landscapes on the island, both for their economic and ecological value.

In addition to their economic importance, the Levante Salt Flats are a protected ecosystem of great ecological value, especially for birdlife. More than 170 bird species, such as flamingos and herons, use this habitat to feed and rest during their migrations. This environment is an example of how human activity can coexist with biodiversity conservation, creating valuable and worthy ecosystems of protection.

Water is pumped from Es Trenc beach, located 900m from the salt flats, which crosses the terrain through a canal and is carried to the highest point of the salt flats. During this process, the water circulation passes through different ponds where the sun and wind heat and evaporate the water throughout the journey.

Salt production in this area dates back to the 4th century BC, during the Punic colonization period. Since then, salt extraction has been a constant activity, making these salt flats one of the oldest in Europe in modern times. Systematic exploitation began in 1958, with the creation of the company Salinas de Levante S.A. This company currently manages more than 135 hectares dedicated to natural sea salt production.
