Castrelo de Miño is a municipality in the Ourense Province, located in the northwest of the peninsula and the heart of the Ribeiro Region.

The Ribeiro Designation of Origin is the oldest D.O. in Galicia and is responsible for certifying the quality and origin of the products of the several wineries that bear its seal. Among these is the Ramón de Casar Winery, located in Castrelo de Miño, a municipality in the western part of the Ourense province.

The banks of the Miño River have given, over time, the best white wines in Europe. This winery has adapted the Galician tradition in the elaboration of its wines, with the new technologies imposed in the sector.

This winery comes from the effort of a Galician entrepreneur, living proof that dreams can come true and, in this case, in a masterful fashion. With an avant-garde style building, this emigrant to Venezuela has managed to gather on the banks of the Miño River a group of carefully tended vines that make up the Ramón do Casar Winery, leading with its Treixadura grape the Ribeiro Denomination of Origin.

The Castrelo de Miño municipality is in the heart of the Ribeiro on the left bank of the Miño River.

Surrounded by mountainous reliefs and sheltered from the oceanic influence, the grapevines, which give rise to the famous Ribeiro wine, is the landscape's dominant feature, occupying almost the entire hillsides, including the best oriented and sunny, and hollows of Castrelo de Miño Land.

Irrigated by a dense fluvial network, this land is a dry and warm microclimate, but with high humidity during the winter period.

The municipality's highest point is Coto de Novelle, with approximately 800 meters above sea level.

Located in this municipality is the Ramón do Casar winery, where they made their white wines only from the grapes harvested in their vineyards, following the elaboration processes established by the Ribeiro D.O., such as an organoleptic control by the tasting panel and a physical-chemical one. Besides taking advantage of all the fruit's natural properties, they carefully tended the environment.

The wines of this winery belong to the Ribeiro Denomination of Origin, or Ribeiro wine, meaning "riverbank," is one of the five D.O. of existing wines in Galicia. The production area is in the southern part of the Autonomous Community, on the northwestern edge of the Ourense Province at the confluence of the valleys formed by the rivers Miño, Avia, Arnoia, and Barbantiño.

The Miño area, known in Galicia as Ribeiro, is famous for its wine territory since the late Middle Ages. In fact, its vineyards hold the seal of Denomination of Origin.

Ramón do Casar winery emerged in 2013 because of the determination and passion of an enterprising Galician emigrant to Venezuela. The space is idyllic to obtain a unique wine since its winery sits in a privileged enclave on the banks of the Miño River. It has a vast collection of vines that are the main protagonists in the elaboration of Ramón da Casar wine, producing them only with grapes grown on this estate.

The winery is in Castrelo do Miño in the Ourense Province. The engineer Pepe Paz has been the designer of this winery of approximately 1000 square meters, with a building designed according to the local typology to integrate it into the environment.

They make this wine from grapes harvest in these vineyards. Besides taking advantage of all the fruit's natural properties, they carefully tended this environment. Currently, Ramón do Casar still shows great passion for his work, trying to perfect every detail of his elaborations to produce the best possible white wine. The fame of his vineyard is such that it has won several national and international awards, the latest in 2018.
